Hong Kong's Adult Scene Has Shrunk Meaningfully

Wan Chai's Lockhart Road was historically the heart of Hong Kong's adult-entertainment district, built during the Vietnam-era R&R traffic and sustained for decades. The scene still exists — Neptune, the remaining hostess bars, a handful of clubs — but the district is a fraction of its former scale.

Hong Kong law permits licensed gentleman's clubs and the "bar-hostess" format with tightly regulated rules. Enforcement has tightened over the past decade, and rising commercial rents have pushed most of the operators to smaller upstairs locations.

Expect the remaining venues to carry legacy pricing and an older operating pattern. Stick to the Lockhart Road main strip; the side streets in Wan Chai are not tourist-appropriate at night.
