Dragon's Back With the Whole South Coast Below
Dragon's Back With the Whole South Coast Below
8.5 kilometers along the ridge of Shek O Peak. Bus from Shau Kei Wan MTR to To Tei Wan trailhead. The ridge is a narrow spine with the South China Sea on both sides, and the exposure means views are constant. Scrubby grass and wind-bent trees — the vegetation tells you this ridge takes weather seriously.
At the high point: the entire south coast of Hong Kong Island, Lamma and Po Toi in the distance, and behind you over the ridge, the towers of Chai Wan and the harbor. The contrast between wild green coast and urban density behind you is the Hong Kong story in one panorama.
October through December for clear air. The trail ends at Big Wave Bay with cold drinks and noodles at the beach cafe. Bring water and sunscreen. No shade on the ridge.
